Parent Champions

Volunteering

How does Parent Champions work?

  1. Parent Champions help parents and carers find local family services.
  2. We train all our Parent Champions. They gain valuable skills as they volunteer and support other parents and families.

What happens when you attend Parent Champions?

Parent Champions training is made up of 6 sessions. It works out as 2 hours per week.

You then volunteer for a minimum of 6 months.

Volunteering activities include:

  • Sharing information about early years’ services with other parents and carers in your networks.

  • Supporting community events by giving out leaflets and telling people about other activities and services.

  • Supporting parents in groups at children’s centres and community organisations by including them in the group and giving information, encouragement and support.

What are the benefits of attending Parent Champions?

  • You develop confidence through training and volunteering.
  • You gain skills in communication and organisation, which can be useful in applying for work.
  • You help inform parents about free early years’ services.
  • You support parents to join activities where they meet other parents, and their children play and develop.

Become a Parent Champion

We hold training 3 times a year for local parents who want to support families in Lambeth. You will share information, befriend isolated parents, support digital learning and more.
