Being a Parent (Empowering Parents Empowering Communities)

For parents/carers of children age 2–11.

Being a Parent is a free course for mums, dads and carers of children aged 2–11.

This course is free, with a creche, and runs in term times in Children's Centres

It will support you to: 

  • Manage your feelings, as well as your child's feelings. 
  • Communicate and interact positively with your child. 
  • Encourage ideal behaviour and manage parental stress.

What happens in the sessions?

Empowering Parents Empowering Communities courses are highly interactive, offering an engaging and creative blend of small and large group discussion, role play, demonstrations, information sharing and reflection.

Being a Parent covers topics such as:

  • Tools and strategies for positive parenting
  • Strategies for disciplining your children
  • Supporting parents to take care of themselves

The sessions also provide an opportunity to meet other parents and build networks in the community.
