LEAP NEWS - LEAP celebrates with Family Nurse Partnership graduates
LEAP was thrilled to be invited to Larkhall One O’Clock club on 27th August to celebrate with young mums and their families graduating from the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) programme.
FNP is a voluntary home-visiting programme for first-time teenage mums, aged 19-years-old or under. Following referral, the young mother is visited regularly by a specially trained family nurse, from the early stages of pregnancy until their child is two. FNP supports young mums towards a healthy pregnancy, improves their child’s health and development and helps them to plan their futures and achieve their aspirations. FNP is being expanded in Lambeth as part of the LEAP programme so that it reaches and supports every eligible young woman.
Over the course of the afternoon, the sun came out and the playground filled up, with children and parents from across the borough enjoying the chance to get to know each other. The day came to a close as the FNP mums were awarded their certificates, and picked up some prizes from the raffle too!
It was great to have the opportunity to tell the families at Larkhall more about our work – and speak to lots of mums, dads and carers who wanted to know about working with LEAP as a Parent Champion or Representative of the Board (if you're interested, find out more here!).
Thanks so much to Larkhall for inviting us along, to the FNP team for all their fabulous work with Lambeth’s young parents, and to the FNP participants for their warm welcome and enthusiasm for LEAP.
Congratulations to all of the FNP mothers on their graduations! We hope to see you all soon at our next LEAP event soon.
